Power station runtime calculator

Choose your power station, add the appliances you want to run, and see how long it lasts and whether it can handle them all at once.

Powering through
Wh

Printed on the station or in its specs, in watt-hours (Wh).

W

Continuous output, not the surge or peak figure.

What will you power?

  • Cycles on and off: runs at about 150 W, averaging 60 W.

Estimated runtime

12 h 5 min

from 100% to empty

Average load

72 W

what drains the battery

Peak load

1,212 W

162 W running + startup surge

Uses 85% of the rated 1,024 Wh to cover inverter and conversion losses. Real runtime varies with temperature, battery age and how often appliances cycle.

How to use the runtime calculator

  1. Pick your power station, or choose Custom and type its capacity (Wh) and AC output (W).
  2. Choose AC outlets or DC/USB, depending on how your devices connect.
  3. Add each appliance. We fill in a typical average wattage. If you know your appliance's real number, type it in.
  4. Read the runtime, and check for warnings about output or startup surge.

The formula

runtime (hours) = capacity (Wh) × 0.85 ÷ average load (W)

A 1,024 Wh station running 120 W of appliances lasts about 1,024 × 0.85 ÷ 120 ≈ 7.3 hours. The full explanation, including amp-hours and why real runtime can be shorter, is in how to calculate power station runtime.

Average watts vs. running watts

A refrigerator might draw 150 W when the compressor is on, but it's only on part of the time, so over a day it averages around 60 W. Battery runtime depends on the average, while what the station can start depends on running and surge watts. This calculator tracks both, so it can tell you a station will last 14 hours with your fridge, and also whether it can start the fridge at all.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is this runtime calculator?
It's a planning estimate, usually within 10–20% for steady loads. Appliances that cycle (fridges, pumps, heaters) vary more with the weather and how they're used. For the best result, measure your appliance with a watt meter and type in its average watts.
Why is the runtime less than capacity divided by watts?
Converting the battery's DC power to household AC wastes some energy as heat, and the station's own electronics use a little. We use 85% of the rated capacity for AC outlets and 90% for DC and USB ports, which matches typical real-world tests.
What does 'Check surge rating' mean?
Motors in fridges, pumps and air conditioners draw a spike several times their running watts for a split second when they start. If that spike is well above the station's rated output, it may shut off. Most stations publish a surge or peak rating: compare it with the peak load shown.
My power station model isn't listed. What do I do?
Choose 'Custom / other model' and enter its capacity in Wh and its continuous AC output in W. Both are on the label and in the spec sheet.
